Applying for Your License

1. Bride and Groom must apply in person
2. Each one must have a valid State ID, drivers license or passport (Birth Certificate not acceptable)
3. There is a 3-day wait period for Florida residents
4. Previously married persons need the exact date and the manner in which the marriage ended
5. No blood test is required
6. Cost of $93.50 (cash, money order, M/C or VISA)
7. Legal age is 18. Newlyweds under 18 must bring a copy of their
8. birth certificate and parent or ;legal guardian with proof of identification

PLEASE NOTE:
Couples who have completed a four hour Marriage Preparation Course and produce their Certificate of Completion will not have to comply with the 3 day waiting period. They will also receive a discounted marriage Application fee of $61.00.

The Marriage License

The marriage license is valid on the effective date and MUST BE used within 60 days (expiration date is located on the form). Before any official may solemnize a marriage, he/she must require the parties to produce a marriage license. After the ceremony, it is the officials duty to complete the Certificate of Marriage portion on the license, the return it to the Clerk within 10 days. Official Records will record the license and the original is sent to the Office of Vital Statistics in Jacksonville, FL.

Certified Copies

Following the ceremony, the person who officiates is required to return the license to the clerk. The license is then sent to the Official Records to be recorded. Official Records provides one certified copy to the couple. The copying cost is included in the application fee. Additional copies are $2.50 each.
